In line with 2021 World Environment Day (WED) theme “Ecosystem Restoration”, the consortium of NAXA and Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR) is going to officially launch an initiative titled “Identification, Mapping and Promotion of Blue and Green Infrastructure for Sustainable Urban Ecosystem”.
The kickoff day this Saturday (June 5) consists of three activity:
Official launch of the Initiative
Keynote talk from thematic experts and
An open data mapathon engaging volunteer mappers to identify and map BGI in two urban cities (Kathmandu and Hetauda)
The consortium is partnering with Geomatic Engineering Society at Kathmandu University to organize the mapathon activity.
We cordially invite enthusiastic youth and professionals across the country to join hands on these initiatives on identifying and mapping BGI in the core urban areas. The datasets gathered can support restoration efforts and urban planning by the concerned authorities of the urban centers. All the datasets will be made public through both open data portal and the OpenStreetMaps.
